ESSEX INTERNATIONAL JAMBOREE 2020
The Essex Jamboree is an international week long camp which brings together Scouts & Guides from around the world every four years. Its run as a joint event between Essex Scouts and the three Guide Counties of Essex West, Essex North East and Essex South East.
Essex International Jamboree 2020 will be returning to Boyton Cross near Chelmsford. The 120 acre site at Boyton Cross is only 40 miles from London. The site includes a 8 acre lake and the remainder is planted grasslands.
Split across the week, there will be 10 Daytime zones . The content of the zones is still in the design stage, but you can expect them to include past favourites such as Abseiling to Zip Wire and Acrobats to Zorbing with plenty more new events in between.
All activities will be split into zones, examples of which could be Technology: from combustion to design, Water: how it powers and using it to get from a-b, Performance: from stage to the big screen and Enterprise: making, marketing and bringing a product to market and Creative: where you can design, create and share items to take home with you.
The Early Evening programme will give subcamps the chance to Celebrate the International aspect of the Jamboree or maximise the inter sub camp rivalry through either organised Sporting Challenges or the Talent Show knock out rounds.
Finally the Evening zones will provide participants the chance to continue their daytime experiences, try something new or just relax. Evening zones will offer the usual entertainment based venues such as the Dance Tent, watch live acts on the Performance Stages, unwind with some popcorn in the Cinema or take part in games in the Soft Rock Café. As well as the ability to get more involved; update the world on your experiences at the Internet Café, find your creative side in the Craft Barn or generally just relax and enjoy the atmosphere in our Chill Out zones.
From the moment you arrive to the final farewell, the EIJ will deliver an unforgettable experience for all. If you are still wondering what you will be doing? Well in simple terms; taking part, having fun, sharing your experiences with friends, old and new, and all in the spirit of Guiding and Scouting. Magical!
